about

[BL010]
by assylium, KULTUS & Sergei Tumanov

Dark Ambient / Drone / Doom

For this three way split we take a dive into the deepest regions of known music. We surf on the darkest side of the dark web. We put onour scubagear and go to the bottom of the Marianatrench. We iceclimb down the Denman Glacier. We take a look at the dark side of the moon. Kapoors black isn't as dark as this. You search for a point of light? Well, too bad, there isn't.

We take doom, drone and dark-ambient and the result is surprising. Take off your partyhead and listen to these three acts, brought together by RVD.

The first track is by a new formed band called assylium. The track is conceived by Serpentine and Spelonk, both of Graeaefame. Normally they use field-recordings, but they didn't harm any fields this time. It's a scoop, because it's the first track to be released by this duo ever.

The second track is by Dutch act Kultus, which is the solo-monniker of Otto Kokke. Kultus releases heavy drone very regularly. It's drone metal on a distorted synth with sometimes some flanger thrown in. Meditative if you will, but in a bad way. Harsh and pulverizing with sad negative energy. Epic beyond your stoner doom lullabies.

Third track is by Russian Australian Sergei Tumanov. It's called 'disquiet sounds'. Sergeis music is based on directions of improvised music with influences of drone, noise and ambient. For this track he plays the table (?!) and abuses everybody's favourite pig (after Babe): Peppa.
